FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions about the Rocky Mountain Boat Club

Q: How does the boat club work?
You may have three reservations “on the books”. To accommodate our members, we split the boating time to get the maximum number of people out on any given day. Boating times are from 7 am—1:30 pm or 2—9 pm.  A “use” is one half-day time slot. You may have two weekend uses on the books at any time (Friday pm -Sunday and Holidays). To reserve the entire day for longer trips simple us two reservations and you have the whole day to enjoy on the water

Q: How do I know there will be boats available?
We limit the number of memberships based on the number of boats we have to ensure that boats are available when members call for reservations. You can have up to 3 reservations in advance and unlimited use upon availablility 24hrs out. We will monitor boat use and will add boats to make sure we have plenty for our members in the locations they use most.

Q: How do I make a reservation?
Our new on-line reservation system is close to being finished and will allow all members to view availablility real time.  For the early summer of 2009, just call us up, and we’ll book your reservation along with any extras you are looking for from catered food to an extra rental canoe or kayak.

For Roaring Fork Marina and Blue Quill Anglers, call 970-963-4377

Q: What type of boats do you have in the club?
In 2009 "Trout Bum" will enjoy more 10 boats between the two locations and can select from a variety depending on the occasion.   Our dories, rafts, motor boats allow CO boaters the opportunity to boat just about every different water possibility.

The ShareAboat.net boat program offers fractional pleasure and ski/wakeboard boats at the best lakes and reservoirs.  We currently have a one bow rider available in Basalt CO, primarily for use at Ruedi Reservoir.  Lake Powell, Cherry Creek Reservoir, Horsetooth Reservoir and South Shore Marina on Pueblo Res. are being organized currently and should be on-line before the 4th of July. Owners in the network may requests a trade with others making travel to a distant locations a breeze. As we continue to grow, we will add more boats at a variety of locations.

If you are currently a boat owner with less than 100hrs., your boat may be eligible for our program. Our system can keep you boating while cutting costs and many times putting cash in your pocket.

All boats include the required safety items for safe operation and are kept in excellent condition. Boats are inspected and registered each season with motor boats registered with the CO State Parks each year.

Q: Is there a limit to the number of times per year you can boat?
No. Simply use our reservation system for the days you know you need to reserve for a future outing. The current and following day are open to unlimited use if available and members are encouraged to use boats on short term availability.

Q: Who can I bring with me on the boat?

Family, friends, work colleagues. In short, anyone you wish up to the capacity of the boat you select.

Q: How do I sign up?
Just call us, and we’ll set up a time to tour the marina, review the membership agreement, schedule you for boat training and get you started.

Q: What does it cost to join?

"Trout Bum" memberships start as low as $1,200 and go up from there.

Q: Are group memberships available?
Yes, it’s $2,399 for a corporate membership, which entitles you to boating any day of the week shared by 4 individuals in a company or two couples. One use per membership per weekend meaning that both couples and two members of a company cannot boat on the same weekend (Friday-Sunday plus holiday weekends).

Q: Are there any daily use charges?
Once you pay your annual Membership fee there are no other additional costs except fuel and damage, (which hopefully won’t occur), catering or hiring a Captain to drive, if you want to entertain and leave the driving to us. All charges are on a monthly account and you are billed at the end of each month.

Q: When can I use the boats?
Our season runs from March 1st through Oct. 31st. Memorial Day to Labor Day we are open 7 days a week.  Spring and fall you can expect the offices to be closed Sunday-Tuesday, so spare of the moment reservations in this period will need to be made online.

Q: What do you need to know about boating?
Our goal is to make sure that you are completely comfortable with the boats. We provide the training (and the maps). Each membership comes complete with a prepaid Coast Guard "About Boating Safety" Course (classroom or on-line), and also a on water training period for river craft.
